Walking in the Spirit

John 4:23-24 "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

Teaching by Prophet Duncan Mghendi.

What does it mean to be "Walking in the Spirit.". Paul the apostle gave an insight towards the above Words that Jesus was speaking to the Samaritan woman. In Jesus words above, the LORD says one thing that stands out in all His Ministry.

Jesus gave an open description of His Father, who is our Father and at the same time teaches us how to approach His Father, Our God who is Spirit.

We will see, what pertains to the meaning of "In Truth and In Spirit" as we first see what Paul the Apostle says of Us walking in the Spirit.

Romans 8:1-9 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

There's a big difference of Walking in the Spirit that Apostle has made it plain, much easier than what most may think of it.
The apostle says, "to be fleshly is to do things of the flesh and to be in Spirit is doing things of the Spirit.

These is the best definition that distinguishes the term of walking in the Spirit and walking in the flesh.

Now, the LORD Jesus answer to the Samaritan woman has been summarized into an easier breakdown by Apostle Paul on the Romans 8.
The Apostle says also.... "the carnal mind is Enmity to God".
Does this ring something in your mind.....
When its written by John that "Friendship with the world is enmity to God", the Apostle was trying to further expound on Pauls teaching on Walking in the Spirit.
When one is Carnally Minded, its surely known to refer that this person is Worldly, thereby meaning that the slightest walk of the fleshly man, is an outward nature of the Worldly desires harbored within the flesh of the person.
Walking in the Spirit, is complete surrender to fulfill the "Things Of The Spirit", leading a person to fully live up to God's word.
When there's a mix of both, its dangerous as one is giving is body to two natures that may cause one's life become miserable.
Apostle Paul's counsel of walking in the Spirit, is one that assures more how "Peace and Life", are the results of the Spiritual person who walks in the Spirit.
Having the Spirit Of God entails one to Great Peace and Life, in which the person walking in the Spirit will not and will never give in to the flesh.
Walking in the Flesh, is a sin, for what does not please God is abominable before His Holy Throne. All men wanting to fully please God, should know the first form of worship is first Submitting the Mind to the Spirit and accepting the Guidance and Counsel of the Spirit Of God.

How does one know if He is walking in the Flesh?

When you Read Romans 8, from the above quote you'd notice that, the Carnal mind cannot submit to the "LAW OF GOD".

The Law Of God is the whole scripture, the Word Of God. If one cannot submit to the WORD, its because of Carnality and the nature of sin in one's flesh. Anyone under the influence of the Spirit is ever present to accept submission to God's Spirit, in which the person has power over His flesh and can bodly go before God as the Spirit of God in the man will identify with God that the man has become His son or daughter. For without the Spirit bearing witness on our by making us submissive to Christ, our worship and salvation is vain and traditional. When we are on the Spirit and walking on the Spirit, is by knowing that only through Holiness and Righteousness can we become God's children for Jesus has already said to us, "God is Spirit."

1 Corinthians 2:14 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
Now this plain truth of walking in the Spirit.
When you walk in the flesh, you are always never ready to receive the Spirit of God.
Most people walking in the Flesh, are to defensive and given out to excuses on Scriptures that rebuke or try to instruct them because their Fleshly nature are not submissive to the Power of God, the Scriptures or Christ.

He that belongs to God, does as written in God's holy word. One that is on the Natural, the carnal or fleshly nature, is always troubled in one way or the other in accepting the true walk of a true Christian: Walking in the Spirit.

The things of the Spirit Of God or the Word of God, happen to be Foolishness to the Natural/Carnal man, because the flesh is strongly under the law of Sin, when you speak of Righteousness or Holiness to the man, its becomes a matter of foolery to the man, because to Him or Her, holiness or righteousness seems unattainable or far out of reach. Brethren, when we walk in the Spirit we know that the Spirit is what helps us over our infirmities and thereby when we give ourselves to the Spirit and walk in it, we shall realize that holiness and righteousness becomes a daily living without one using His or Her might.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s."

If your body is not given unto the submission of the Spirit Of God, there's a problem in your walk with God.

To walk in the Spirit, is as easy as knowing and reminding yourself everyday: I'm bought to Give God Glory, both in my body and spirit (innerman).

How does one's flesh or body glorify God?

By obeying God on this very word: Romans 6:12-13 "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God"

In short, "GIVE THE MEMBERS OF YOUR BODY AS INSTRUMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS".

In this way you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh because you'd have made your body become a living temple. Your eyes, ears, hands, mind, tongue and everything that pertains to your flesh, walk uprightly in obeying God and giving yourself as a living sacrifice.

Galatians5:17-25 "17  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18  But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24  And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. {affections: or, passions} 25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another."

And Galatians 6:7-8 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

God Bless you...Shalom
